The back of the card offers a brief reflection as follows:

As Mary and Joseph set out on a difficult journey, needing the guidance of a star, we too are reminded of our need for the light of Christ to show us the way. Notice that our student artist chose to portray the cover image of Mary and Joseph in silhouettes – as if to say – we can place ourselves also in the scene – in search of the place where we will see Jesus face to face. For Mary and Joseph, this place was Bethlehem after a pilgrimage that challenged their faith and obedience. They were strengthened by the virtue of fortitude, which enables one to endure difficulties and pain for the sake of what is good. Our daily pilgrimage also requires fortitude, so that we may keep our eyes fixed on Christ, who is “the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:6) This Christmas, let us pray that the Infant Jesus may give us fortitude for our journey.
