About Saint Agatha Childcare

Childcare Programs

After School Care (Grades K-8)

We provide a welcoming, secure atmosphere for your children after their regular school hours. We offer a variety of educational and enrichment activities to help develop social skills, self esteem, artistic skills and physical fitness.

In addition, during the after school care program, a dedicated homework time for students in grades 1-8 is planned Monday through Thursday.

Club 58 (Grades 5-8)

Club 58 is available for older students as a transition between school, home and extra-curricular activities. Students check in at 3:00 with a staff member in the Club 58 room. There are opportunities to socialize with students their own age, as well as receive help with homework assignments. This special age requires a program to balance the freedom they are earning with supervision from our qualified staff.

Summer Program

Saint Agatha offers an exceptional summer childcare option for students enrolled in the childcare program (students entering grades 1-8). The program begins one week after the end of school (June), and continues for eight (8) weeks.

During summer camp, students enjoy field trips, swimming, sports, arts and crafts, and visits to the Upper Arlington Public Library. The summer camp is staffed by highly qualified childcare staff.

Enrollment is open to Saint Agatha School and Childcare students entering grades 1-8. Non-Saint Agatha families are welcome if space allows.

Location

The Saint Agatha Childcare Program is housed in Saint Agatha School and Parish. The after school Kindergarten program is housed in the room right off the main entrance. The program for grades 1-4, located in the school cafeteria, is an inviting atmosphere where children relax, play, and enjoy a snack. They also use the school gymnasium, school kitchen, the Monsignor Kennedy Parish Hall, and classrooms for homework. Club 58 (grades 5-8) meets in a separate classroom.

Licensing and Staffing

The Saint Agatha Childcare Program is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education. Our lead teachers are college-degreed and the entire staff meets the qualifications required by the State of Ohio. A person trained in first aid is on site at all times. A teacher-child ratio of 1:12 is maintained in the Kindergarten childcare program. A teacher-child ratio of 1:18 is maintained in the after-school program for grades 1-8.

Hours of Operation

The childcare program operates Monday through Friday and follows the Saint Agatha School calendar. Our hours are from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Kindergarten through grade 8 students who attend Saint Agatha can enroll for after school care.

Transportation

Parents transport students to Saint Agatha unless they have made other arrangements.

All Tremont students coming to childcare at 3:00 PM will be met by a Saint Agatha childcare staff member and escorted to Saint Agatha School. Wickliffe and Jones students are transported by the Upper Arlington bus service. Parents must make all other travel arrangements.

Snacks

A healthy snack will be provided daily for the children in all three after school programs (Kindergarten, grades 1-4, and Club 58). Snack schedules are posted in the classroom.

Parent Communication

Parent communication happens on SchoolSpeak, by email or phone calls. You will be invited to create a SchoolSpeak password at the beginning of the school year. In additional informal discussions, a parent conference may be scheduled at any time.
