UNIFORMS

All items worn by Saint Agatha students must be in compliance with the following uniform standards. Uniform Standards do not apply to children enrolled in preschool.  Uniforms will be required from the first day of school through the last day of the school year. Exceptions are for “Non Uniform Days” and “Saint Agatha Spirit Days” as selected by the Principal.

BOYS’ UNIFORM FOR GRADES K-8
Boys’ uniforms are also available through retail stores such as the J.C. Penney, Target, Old Navy, etc.
PANTS Solid, straight legged navy blue pants. No denim, corduroy, flair, cargo or jeans style pants permitted.
SHIRTS Long or short sleeve, light blue knit shirt OR long or short sleeve light blue, button-down, oxford style shirt. Only plain white, short sleeve undershirts are to be worn. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
SWEATERS & FLEECE SOLID NAVY BLUE cardigan or pullover, V-neck or round-neck. NO STRIPES, INSIGNIAS, OTHER COLORS OR EXTREME STYLES PERMITTED. No zippers or hoods on sweaters. Sweaters must be purchased from a uniform store. Half-zip navy fleece pullovers with the school logo are allowed.
SHORTS Navy Blue walking shorts, mid-thigh length. To be worn with light blue uniform shirt. They can be worn ONLY during first and fourth quarters.
BELTS: Grades 6-8 Solid color (black, brown, or dark blue) belts must be worn and must be visible.
SOCKS Solid color white, navy or black socks must be worn and be visible above the shoe.
GIRLS’ UNIFORM FOR GRADES K-8
JUMPERS: K-5 Dark Green Plaid in pattern ROYAL PARK. Jumper must be that of no more than 2.5 inches above the knee regardless of whether or not tights are being worn.
SKIRTS: Grades 6-8 Dark Green Plaid in pattern ROYAL PARK. Skirts must be that of no more than 2.5 inches above the knee regardless of whether or not tights are being worn. Skirts may not be rolled at the waist.
BLOUSES Short or long sleeve white round (a.k.a. Peter Pan) collar; broadcloth, button-down collar, Oxford cloth; or knit shirt. NO TURTLENECKS ALLOWED. Blouses must be tucked in at all times.

SWEATER VESTS & FLEECE FOR ONLY
Grades 6-8
SOLID NAVY BLUE sweater vest. Sweater vests must be purchased from a uniform store. No other vests are allowed. Half-zip navy fleece pullovers with the school logo are allowed.
SHORTS & SKORTS Navy Blue walking shorts or skorts, both of which need to be mid-thigh length and worn with the white uniform blouse. They can be worn ONLY during first and fourth quarters.
PANTS SOLID Navy Blue twill pants -similar in style to those sold in the uniform shop - may be worn instead of the uniform jumper or skirt during all four quarters. NO DENIM JEANS, CORDUROYS OR JEANS STYLE SLACKS PERMITTED. Uniform pants must be straight legged. (No flair pants or cargo pants permitted.) Slacks MAY NOT be worn UNDER the uniform jumper or skirt in school. Leggings, stirrup pants, sweatpants, stretch pants/shorts, exercise wear, bicycle pants/shorts or any other fashion trend that may arise are NOT permitted either alone OR under the uniform IF they extend below the hemline of the jumper/skirt.
SOCKS White or navy blue knee socks (pulled up) or tights must be worn with jumper or skirt.
UNIFORM POLICY FOR ALL STUDENTS
SHOES Shoes must be black, blue, white, gray or tan and look appropriate with the uniform (no wild or neon colors, reflectors, lights or sound). No sandals, open toe or open heel shoes (even on non-uniform days). The shoes must fit, and in choosing them, please consider comfort and safety and not extreme fashion. Shoelaces must match the shoes (black, blue, white, gray, or tan) and must be tied.
BELTS ONLY SOLID COLORED (black, brown, or dark blue) belts may be worn on shorts or pants that have belt loops.
SWEATSHIRTS ONLY Saint Agatha logo sweatshirts without hoods may be worn in the classroom and on field trips. The sweatshirt MUST be worn OVER the regular uniform. NO high school, college or sport team logo sweatshirts OR any sweatshirt with any stripes, designs or other figures permitted other than on designated Spirit Days. Half-zip navy fleece pullovers with the school logo are allowed.
GYM CLOTHES Gym Clothes Grades K-8: Students will wear gym uniform all day on students designated day of gym. The gym uniform consists of a short sleeve red dry fit shirt and black mesh shorts both with the white school logo printed on them. During the second and third quarters, the gym uniform will also include a red sweatshirt and dark grey sweatpants both with the white school logo printed on them. Students will take off the sweats for gym class as they will have on the shirt and short gym uniform on. The gym uniform can purchased at Land’s End and Educational Apparel.
DRESS CODE
PERSONAL APPEARANCE The personal appearance of students should conform to acceptable standards of neatness and grooming appropriate for Saint Agatha School as determined by the Principal.
JEWELRY Jewelry is to be kept to a minimum for health and safety reasons. A maximum of one chain or necklace with a cross or religious medal is allowed. No earrings allowed for boys. Girls may wear one earring per ear - no hoops. No bracelets allowed, except a watch. Only one ring may be worn.
HATS Hats are not to be worn in the building. Headbands may only be worn if they match the uniform colors (no feathers, sparkles, glitter, etc.).
MAKEUP Makeup may not be worn. No body spray, perfume or aerosol at school.
NAIL POLISH Only clear nail polish may be worn. No artificial nails. Girls Grades 6-8 may wear pale pink polish.
HAIR Hair must be one natural color. No eccentric colors or hairstyles are permitted. Hair must be above the eyebrows. Hair accessories should be simple and match the uniform. Boy’s hair must be off the ear and above the collar.
SAINT AGATHA SPIRIT DAYS On “Saint Agatha Spirit Days,” students must wear the Saint Agatha School colors (red and yellow), their Diocesan athletic team shirt or their school uniforms. This is an ideal day to wear those Saint Agatha School spirit shirts and sweatshirts.
OTHER UNIFORMS Other uniforms from Saint Agatha sponsored activities such as Honors Band or Northwest Saints football may also be worn. Appropriate socks and uniform shoes must be worn. No short shorts. Jeans are allowed.
SNOW BOOTS Snow boots must be worn by all students for recess play in the snow. The student must be able to put on and remove the boots by themselves. The student must have a separate pair of shoes to wear during the school day.
BACKPACKS Backpacks for grades K -2 may not have wheels.
NON-UNIFORM DAYS, DANCES, OTHER ACTIVITIES No tank tops; all shirts must have sleeves. No short shorts or short skirts. The length of the shorts or skirts must be that of no more than 2.5 inches above the knee regardless of whether or not tights are being worn. No midriffs showing at any time. Tops and bottoms must meet at all times. No see-through or low-cut tops may be worn. Clothing may not have inappropriate words or pictures. Shorts are permitted only during first and fourth quarter. Shoes must be worn at all times.
 
 
PARENT VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Volunteers who have care, custody and control of students must have on file a current Bureau of Criminal Investigation criminal background check and completion of “Protecting God’s Children” workshop. To get more information and to register for this workshop at any parish in the Columbus Diocese, please visit www.virtus.org , click “Registration,” select “Diocese of Columbus” as your organization, click “I would like to attend a Protecting God’s Children Session,” complete the form for location, then submit online to VIRTUS.
 
Background Checks as per Diocesan Policy 4110.0
All paid staff must have on file both BCI and FBI background checks and must attend “Protecting God’s Children.”
All volunteers must have on file a BCI background check and must attend “Protecting God’s Children” no matter how much or how little contact they have with children or youth, no matter
if volunteering for the school or parish, and no matter what time of the day or night they volunteer.
 

Volunteer in Education Form

Volunteer Driver Form - Parents are asked to drive and chaperone field trips whenever possible. Per diocesan policy 2 adults are needed per car in order to transport students or a bus must be used. The Volunteer Driver Form must be completed and on file in the school office each year.

All parents are required to help at least once in the cafeteria (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM) and once during recess (11:30 AM - 12:40 PM) per child (K-8) annually.
