BATTLE OF THE BOOKS (BOB)
Saint Agatha School’s BOB team consists of seventh and eighth grade students who are dedicated to read a total of 70 selective books. Each student reads an average of 15 books, and is expected to comprehend author’s name and title by questions of setting and character titles. Most of the diocesan schools participate. Saint Agatha School is ranked one of the top contenders for the past two years.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSICAL
Saint Agatha’s Drama Club sets the stage in the Spring with a selective junior musical. Middle School students audition for the cast in December, and scheduled practices for dance choreography and vocal performance follow through the end of April. Lighting, sound board, sets and stage crew are all responsibilities of our middle school students. The school enjoys the opening show the morning of the evening performance.

BAND PROGRAM
Saint Agatha offers a voluntary band program during the school day to students in grades five through eight. Our students are scheduled to attend group lessons throughout the week with our music director. Grades six through eight are eligible to participate in the advanced Honors Band Program that practices every Tuesday evening at Bishop Watterson High School.

WELLNESS COMMITTEE
Wellness Catholic schools recognize that it is essential to educate the whole child, spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Similarly, wellness education must be multidimensional and encompass all the same areas in order to promote ultimate health. Catholic schools aid this emphasis on total wellness by embracing the reverence for life, self-respect, and respect for others. Wellness education will include nutrition education, physical education, school- based activities, safety, self control and empathy programs and nutrition guidelines as defined by the Wellness policy - 5145.0. A listing of Health/Safety and Guidance Programs routinely offered is available from the nurse.
Saint Agatha’s Wellness Committee meets monthly to evaluate the success of our student wellness program. This program focuses on nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities designed to promote student health. Our school nurse leads the committee with assistance of faculty members, parent volunteers and middle school students.

STUDENT COUNCIL
Student Council is a middle school representative organization of grades six through eight for purpose of developing responsibility of citizenship, service and spirit of community for the betterment of Saint Agatha School. Peer election selects one representative from each middle school home room, and two eighth grade students are voted as president and vice-president of the student body. A faculty member facilitates monthly meetings and assists with the needs and activities conducted by Student Council throughout the school year.

SKI CLUB
Ski Club is a voluntary winter activity for middle school students organized by parent volunteers. Mad River Mountain Ski Resort is the location of the activity on Fridays at dismissal. Participating members are required to be present for a scheduled meeting late Fall, personal cost for all ski rental equipment, along with registration/ski lift season membership and Saint Agatha School bus transportation cost.

SCOUTING PROGRAMS
“Catholic Scouting empowers young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, draws young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community, and fosters the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.” - Diocese of Columbus

BOY SCOUTS AND CUB SCOUTS
Saint Agatha Parish has a strong Scouting program. Our Cub Scout Pack is a year-round family program designed for boys seven to ten years old. Parents and leaders work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting: Character Development, Spiritual Growth, Good Citizenship, Sportsmanship and Fitness, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun and Adventure and Preparation for Boy Scouts. These goals are accomplished by fun-filled activities such as camping, hiking, field trips, Pinewood Derby, picnics, service projects and sporting events. The Cub Scout Pack meets once a month and boys meet twice a month in smaller dens. Our Boy Scout Troop is a year-round program for boys eleven to eighteen year old. Through the Boy Scout program, young men achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship. The Boy Scout Troop meets weekly, and once a month plans a camping or high adventure activity.

GIRL SCOUTS/BROWNIES/DAISIES
Saint Agatha Parish Girl Scouting program develops courageous and confident girls of strong character. The girls build friendships and learn to make a positive impact in our community. Parents and leaders work with the girls in many programs and activities related to service, science, art and outdoor adventure. Goals set for the girls are accomplished by participation in service projects, attendance at scheduled troop meetings, and various other activities. Membership is open to all girls at the following age levels: Daisy Scouts (Kindergarten), Brownies (grades 1-3), Juniors (grades 4-6), and Cadettes (grades 7-9). All the Saint Agatha troops are registered with The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council through the Upper Arlington Service Unit.
